Lectures

A change in the scedule: a new lecture: Veronika Schröter:
‘Roses shall flower in the chaos’—the messie phenomenon or
the disorganized person (Friday morning, after Elisabeth Baumholzer). Sabine Kirsch's lecture: Integrated ways of working, will take place on Saturday, 3 pm, instead of reporting initiatives.

Elisabeth Baumholzer
Key role of cleaners in avoiding risks of poor hygiene Careful and responsible work done by cleaning staff and suitable cleaning materials and disinfectants and methods of disinfection can reduce risks from noro viruses, for instance. The best organization will fail if staff members are not aware of their responsibilities.

Cleaning can be compared to music making. One needs musicians, instruments, notes, sheets of music, perhaps even a conductor ...

As just as in the case of music, the result will above all depend on the quality of those who make it. As Stradivarius will not make things better if I cannot play the violin. Caring for rooms is an art. It needs the gift for it, dedication, and above all also professional training. ... and as in the case of music, we do not learn it from books but from a teacher and from the actual situation and with practice.

The spaces we live in and our sense of time
The spaces we are in, light, colour and furnishings play a major role in the way we relate to time. What do either excessive stimulation or lack of stimulus mean for the forming of ideas and the way we talk to one another? What makes our personal rhythm of life dynamic and what slows it down and gives it inwardness?

‘Roses shall flower in the chaos’—the messie phenomenon or
the disorganized person
Most people have a basic need for a beautiful home environment. To create and maintain order is not easy for everyone, however. If there is permanent chaos in the home, with nothing in its proper place, we may refer to this structure as the ‘messie phenomenon’.
Behind chaos, one always finds live, creative potential. We have to transform the chaos into a counter move which can create order and beauty. In the talk, we will consider how the process may be successfully achieved, and also at the causes and background to messie syndrome.

Linda Thomas
Order – the joys of cleaning – joy of life
Order creates space and gives clarity. The pleasure we take in our work determine what we take into the world.
